ABOUT

I have written a variety of materials for colossal companies, one-woman operations, and everything in between. And because written communication is so important to me, I combine my experience as a career writer with the patience and strategy of a teacher to provide individualized tutoring services for students and content coaching for adults in all things writing-related. I have an MFA in creative nonfiction writing from Sarah Lawrence College.

Hi, I’m Sam. I’m a writer, editor, tutor, and coach.

On the last day of first grade, I was awarded the distinction of Class Journalist. Since then, I've been hired to write and edit a variety of materials for both public and private entities, colossal companies, one-woman operations, and television shows like HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher and USA’s Suits.

I also love teaching written communication, so these days I combine my experience as a career writer with the patience and strategy of an instructor to provide individualized tutoring services for students and creative coaching for adults in all things writing-related.

I think outside the box when instructing kids, supporting adult writers, and developing material, whether editing op-eds for the founder of a nonprofit, teaching an eighth grader writing skills she will take to college and beyond, or empowering a small business owner to craft authentic website copy they feel proud of.

My own writing on identity, the arts, and culture has appeared in the Washington Post, Harper’s Bazaar, Slate, Them, BOMB, Literary Hub, and elsewhere. My first book, a nonfiction anthology called LIVING, TOGETHER: REIMAGINING COMMUNITY IN THE AGE OF DISCONNECTION, will be published by Beacon Press on July 14, 2026. (But you can pre-order it now!)

I earned my Master of Fine Arts in creative nonfiction writing from Sarah Lawrence College, my Bachelor of Arts in government and film studies from Smith College, and studied journalism at the University of Pittsburgh Honors College. My pronouns are she/her.
